A window will appear asking for a Command Line to execute. Enter "A:\SETUP", and press the OK button. On some older computers with two floppy drives, you may need to enter "B:\SETUP" instead to access the correct drive.
The installation program will now run.
Select "Complete". The software will now be installed. This will take a few minutes.
After installing your modem, you will be asked to restart your computer. You MUST restart your computer now.
Enter "MBAY.NET" for the connection name, and press OK, as above. Now, select the Program Manager group you want the new connection to appear in. The "Microsoft Internet Explorer" group is a good choice.
An icon shaped like the "Make New Connection" icon should be created in the selected program group. If it looks like DOS Box (a square) instead of a telephone, see the "Special Note" at the end of these instructions.
Next, you will get a "Connect To" window like this:
Enter YOUR username (it is between 2 and 8 characters, all lower case), your password, and the apropriate telephone number:
Press Next, and enter our area code (408) and the apropriate telephone number:
Select Properties, and you will get a window like this:
Make sure your window looks like the one above. You may select "Start Internet Exploder when connected" if you wish. Next, select the Domain Name tab at the top, to configure your nameserver information:
Make sure your window looks EXACTLY like the one above, and select OK.
You will now be back at the "Connect To" window. Select Close, and save your changes.
You are now on the Internet! The speed will, of course, vary depending on the type of modem you have and the current line conditions. You can now minimize this window (if it didn't minimize automatically) and start Internet Explorer, Netscape, or any other Internet application.
When you are ready to disconnect from the Internet, just bring back the above window, click Disconnect, and you will be disconnected from the Internet. As a courtesy to other users, please disconnect when you are not actively using your connection.
If this is the case, you must edit the C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT file and move the three "SET" commands that were added by the installer to the end of the file to a point immediately ABOVE the command that is "freezing" the autoexec.bat (possibly something like C:\WIN31\WIN, or MENU). These "SET" commands MUST be executed before windows loads.
If you are not sure how to do this, contact the person that configured your computer, as this is a non-standard configuration. After correcting the autoexec.bat file, reboot the computer and proceed from Step 4.
