Welcome!
Welcome to my digital domain, my manifestation
in cyberspace, or in more mundane terms, my home page. The idea behind
this page is for it to serve as a kind of computer calling card, an electronic
introduction to me, Rob Bourke. Its been said that a polite, well mannered
amateur web author will stick to writing about the subject he knows best
- himself. Whilst its true I know a lot about myself, and its true most
people seem to think of me as polite and well mannered, wouldn't it be
boring if I just yammered on about Rob to no end? No, I think its best
if I share some opinions about other things too.
Take celery for instance - I have no use
for it. Nothing's worse than a negative caloric food that has a nasty habit
of getting stuck in your teeth. And worse still, celery often
arrives slathered in that loathsome goo casually referred to as peanut
butter. Why, I wouldn't feed the offensive stalks to my hamster. Oh, wait
a minute, I'm forgetting about Bloody Marys! I like celery. Its cool.
I digress. What I was talking about before
was interesting opinions, ideas, and facts that I'd like to share with
the denizens of the web. I invite you to explore the pages of this site,
always indexed on the left, and get to know me better. It is my hope that
in addition to discovering what topics interest me, you also learn something
about those topics. Although I have not applied professional reporter's
fact-checking standards to the material I present here, I stand by what
I have to say until proven in error. The writing you will find on these
pages is entirely my own, unless otherwise quoted. Most of the photos included
here are my own as well.
There are also many links here - to other pages over which I have no control,
but find interesting. Some of the links are obvious and others are subtle
(just for fun!). All of the links I've included here will let you know
a little bit more about how I think, or at least what I am often thinking
about. Enjoy what you find, but keep in mind, the map is not the land. |
