"Koinonia,"
Communion with Jesus
It is normal that, if we believe that
Jesus is alive, and love him, that we want to praise him, talk with him and want
being in communion with him. But, how might be this communion?
The beings of the afterlife
To begin with, we used to think about the
beings that belong to the "beyond," using categories, values and
images of this creation; but nothing is farther from the truth. There is
nothing spatial or physical there; there are no things "flying
around," there is no movement from place to place there. Our beliefs of
faith might still be more distorted by the myths circulating around about the
afterlife.
The beings of the afterlife, God, Jesus,
the angels, the spirits, our predecessors, are not "separated" one
from the other as physical things are here. In fact, in the other world there
is only One Being, God, and everything that exists, is there in
God. There is no other way of being.
The afterlife is a world of faith
As I said in another document (see it here,
031), everything that belongs to the afterlife can be known only by faith;
there are no proofs. If there were proofs, then it would be a belief based on proofs,
and hence not a belief of faith. But revelation does not say very much about
the "beyond," and most of what is said is allegorical or
metaphorical, since there are no proper terms to talk about the afterlife.
Every time that Jesus talked about his second
coming, or heavens as in my Fathe'sr house are
many mansions... I go to prepare a place for you (John 14:2), or the last judgement, et alia, he used
pedagogical images; but all these are metaphorical teachings, not the real
thing, because there is no room there for anything physical or similar.
